The Atlanta Silverbacks will play six preseason games in preparation for the 2012 NASL season, the club announced Friday.
The team’s preseason schedule is highlighted by two matchups against USL Pro teams, the Charleston Battery and the Charlotte Eagles. The pair of preseason games reunites three of the Southeast-based professional teams that used to play in the Southern Derby, a rivalry cup created by the fans in 2000.
The Silverbacks will host the Battery on March 10 at 4 p.m. at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, and will travel to Charlotte to play the Eagles on March 30 at 6 p.m.
In addition to playing against the two professional teams, the Silverbacks will suit up against a handful of college teams, three of which are Georgia-based institutions. Mercer University and Clayton State University will visit the Silverbacks at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, while Georgia State University will host the Silverbacks at GSU Soccer Field.
The Silverbacks will also play against the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Furman University. The complete preseason schedule is detailed below:

- March 24 @ Georgia State University – 3 p.m.*
- March 30 @ Charlotte Eagles – 6 p.m.
*Furman University and Georgia State University will each play half of a game against the Silverbacks at GSU Soccer Field on March 24.
