The Atlanta Silverbacks launched an online promotion today, giving fans the power to select the team’s goal anthem for the 2012 season.
The Silverbacks’ goal anthem, which was “Song 2” by Blur last season, will be played after every goal that the team scores at home this year. The organization is looking for an upbeat song that can inject energy and enthusiasm into the crowd on game days at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
The promotion, which has two phases, will run through the Silverbacks’ website and official Facebook fan page through the end of March.
Beginning Thursday, March 8, fans can submit a song at atlantasilverbacks.com by clicking on “Goal Anthem” under the community tab, located on the homepage. The submission period for songs will end at 5 p.m. on March 22, exactly two weeks after the start of the promotion.
Finalists will be named on March 23, and voting will open up on the Silverbacks’ Facebook page. A video will be posted on the page with each finalist’s song being played over a Silverbacks goal highlight from last season. The song that receives the most “likes” through March 31 will win the contest and become the 2012 Silverbacks Goal Anthem.
The fan that nominates the winning song will receive a team-signed ball and four tickets in the Owner’s box for the home opener on April 7 against the San Antonio Scorpions. The runners-up will each receive a Silverbacks scarf and a pair of tickets to the home opener.
