The Atlanta Silverbacks are playing their 14th professional season in 2013, meaning the club has been home to dozens upon dozens of players over the years. Whether it was during the club’s A-League, USL, or NASL days, the Silverbacks have had a host of players from all over the world. Because of this, the Silverbacks have become well represented in all levels of professional play, not only in the U.S., but also across the world.
After a much-needed bye week, the first-place Atlanta Silverbacks are back in action this Saturday, hosting FC Edmonton at 7:30 p.m. at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
The game presents the Silverbacks with a monumental opportunity to add to their lead in the NASL standings, and also get a little revenge against a FC Edmonton team that beat them handily several weeks back.
Thanks to a late goal from midfielder Danny Barrera, the Atlanta Silverbacks topped the San Antonio Scorpions, 1-0, Saturday night in front of 4,422 fans at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. The win, combined with a loss by the Tampa Bay Rowdies, vaulted the Silverbacks (4-1-2) to the top of the North American Soccer League standings.
